Big Prayer Request

Hi everyone,

Some of my team has a really cool opportunity on Saturday, the 17th, to return to Chupvary High school, where we served for the last four weeks of ministry. Isaiah, Reid, and I will be the ones going for the weekend to minister to the people we met there over the past four weeks. Also, Peach, one of the ladies who works with New Day New Life, the main ministry that has been hosting our whole squad, will be coming with us to help us by translating and helping to evangelize. One thing that was hard about the past four weeks was the inability to communicate why exactly we were there serving and to present the Gospel to the students. Peach will really be able to help us break that language barrier and she has such a heart for evangelism and discipleship. We plan to teach some English, play basketball or some other sports with the students, and most importantly tell them about Jesus. I have been in a lot of prayer over this weekend and I am expecting great things from the Lord. I believe that he is going to show up in a mighty way. There is something special about this weekend that the Lord has put in my heart and that is why I am asking for your prayers. As I have read Acts, I have been encouraged by the disciple’s faithfulness to the Lord that has led to the Holy Spirit moving in powerful an unexpected ways.

My team will be fasting for all of Friday as we prepare and pray for this weekend and I am welcoming all of you into this as well. When is the last time you fasted? When is the last time you had a physical reminder of a spiritual hunger for the Lord? When is the last time you devoted a day to prayer? When is the last time you heard from the Lord? When is the last time you humbled yourself and asked for favor from the Lord? I ask all these questions not to guilt trip or coerce you into fasting but to make you consider the blessings of God focused fasting. I encourage and invite all of you who read this to join with us as the body of Christ in the same mind and same love to fast and pray on Friday with us. And maybe you just fast for one meal, that is totally okay.

You may be asking, “What do I pray for? Nate.” I will tell you now:

  • For God to open the hearts and eyes of all the students at Chupvary High School who come and we plan to invite every single person we can
  • For Isaiah, Reid, Peach and I to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to be faithful ministers of the Good News
  • For God to do a mighty work through us
  • For our desires and hearts to be set on God
  • For any doubts that fill our minds to be knocked away
  • Most of all, that God would be more glorified and most glorified at the end of the day

Scripture for Encouragement:

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
